Macon is located 8 miles south of Decatur on Rt 51. It is a progressive community of 1200 people. Route 51 was upgraded to a 4 lane
highway in 2001. As a result of that upgrade, new opportunities developed. The city built a new community center, a new convenience
store (P&G Quickstop), a Car Wash, and Dollar General have built so far. A new subdivision (Hogan Hills) is under construction. The City
has implemented a TIFF district to speed up developments. Our school district is Meridian and includes the community of Blue Mound.
We have our own water and sewage treatment plant with ample capacity. Our crime rate is very low with Policing Provided by the Macon
County Sheriffs office.
